The new Tuesday Socials have got off to a great start. The idea is that every Tuesday lunchtime, local residents come together to enjoy a communal lunch at the inn in a fun and informal setting, with an optional short walk beforehand for those who want to work up an appetite.
The weekly event is for people of all generations to socialise with each other – from elderly residents to mothers with young children and homeworkers seeking some company during their working day.
There is no charge for the walk and the two-course lunch is just £12 per person, and served at 12.45pm round large tables with family sharing-style dishes.
The menu for 21 January is:
Pork, apricot and sage stew with mash and greens
Pre-lunch community walk – 11.30am
It’s entirely flexible whether people choose to join in the volunteer-led walk and lunch, or just opt to arrive in time for lunch and a chat. There’s no need to book the walk, which leaves at 11.30am from the inn, however, if you’d like lunch, please ring the pub on 01892 870371 to book, as the food is
The free walks are part of the Every Step Counts initiative, a series of gentle health and wellbeing walks led by qualified volunteers. The walks vary in time and distance to accommodate people’s abilities and last around 30 minutes, although there is the option to do more for those who wish to and are able.
The inn has long been an important focal point in the village, and we are keen to build on that tradition with our Tuesday Socials. Everyone is welcome to come along – both old friends and new – and we hope that this weekly event will be an enjoyable way to bring the community together.
(Please note the Tuesday Social prices are not available with any other offers or promotions.)
Please note that although the walk is on the flat, this is a rural route and may be muddy in places, so please wear appropriate footwear!
